Hawthorne Bears (Hawthorne, NJ) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Pompton Lakes Cardinals (Pompton Lakes, NJ), 70-40 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Hawthorne upgrades its record to 8-8 on the season. The Bears travel to West Milford (West Milford, NJ) to play the Highlanders in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 26. The Highlanders go into the bout with a record of 2-11.

Next up, the Cardinals play the Eastern Christian Eagles (North Haledon, NJ) in a Bergen/Passaic - Carpenter game, on Monday, January 30. Pompton Lakes will attempt to move on its 1-14 season record. The Eagles enter the game with a 8-7 record after their 54-53 non-league loss to Lakeland Regional (Wanaque, NJ).
