The Mustangs enter the game with a 7-2 record after their 44-31 non-league win over Everest Collegiate (Clarkston, MI).

With the defeat, University Liggett moves to 6-3 on the year. The Knights travel to Cardinal Mooney Catholic (Marine City, MI) to face the Cardinals in a Catholic Intersectional I game on Friday, January 27. The Cardinals enter the game with a record of 7-5. Cardinal Mooney Catholic won 56-46 in their recent league game against Cranbrook Kingswood (Bloomfield Hills, MI)
