Mayer Wildcats (Mayer, AZ) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Bagdad Sultans (Bagdad, AZ), 33-28 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mayer upgrades its record to 5-14 on the season. The Wildcats host Anthem Prep (Anthem, AZ) to play the Eagles in a 1A Central bout on Thursday, January 25. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 14-3. Anthem Prep won 68-53 in their recent non-league bout against Antelope (Wellton, AZ)

Next up, the Sultans play the San Pasqual Valley Warriors (Winterhaven, CA) in a 1A West bout, on Thursday, January 25. Bagdad will attempt to upgrade on its 4-15 season record. The Warriors go into the bout with a 1-17 record after their 62-20 non-league loss to San Luis (San Luis, AZ).
