The La Mirada Matadores (La Mirada, CA) basketball nipped the visiting Mayfair Monsoons (Lakewood, CA), 62-61 in Wednesday's league test.

The Matadores (16-4) will now prepare for their test against Dominguez (Compton, CA). The Dons go into the San Gabriel Valley test with a 4-16 record. In their last test, Dominguez was tipped by Firebaugh (Lynwood, CA), 48-27, in a league outing.

The Monsoons now own a 9-11 record. They play next when they travel to Norwalk for a San Gabriel Valley outing on Friday, January 26. Mayfair will clash with a Lancers squad coming off a 69-25 league win over Bellflower (Bellflower, CA). The Lancers record now stands at 11-13.
