Winfield Pirates (Winfield, AL) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Phillips Bears (Bear Creek, AL), 71-46 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Winfield upgrades its record to 8-11 on the season. The Pirates host Oakman (Oakman, AL) to clash with the Wildcats in a 3A Area 10 bout on Friday, January 26. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 0-15.

Next up, the Bears clash with the Phil Campbell Bobcats (Phil Campbell, AL) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 29. Phillips will attempt to upgrade on its 1-18 season record. The Bobcats go into the bout with a 10-9 record after their 45-43 league loss to Colbert County (Leighton, AL).
