Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host West Carteret Patriots (Morehead City, NC), 29-20 in a league bout.

With the win, Croatan upgrades its record to 6-6 on the season. The Cougars host Swansboro (Swansboro, NC) to play the Pirates in a bout on Friday, January 26. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 9-3. Swansboro won 60-50 in their recent league bout against Dixon (Holly Ridge, NC)

Next up, the Patriots play the Dixon Bulldogs (Holly Ridge, NC) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 30. West Carteret will attempt to upgrade on its 4-9 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 7-6 record after their 63-40 non-league loss to White Oak (Jacksonville, NC).
