The Loyd Star Hornets basketball team scored 39 points and limited the visiting Amite County Trojans to 37 in the Hornets league triumph on Friday.

The Hornets now have a 9-8 record. They play next when they travel to West Lincoln for a 2A Region 7 game on Monday, January 27. Loyd Star will confront a Bears team coming off a 72-36 league loss to Bogue Chitto (Bogue Chitto, MS). The Bears record now stands at 11-13.

With the loss, Amite County falls to 6-14 on the campaign. The Trojans host Wilkinson County (Woodville, MS) to confront the Wildcats in a 2A Region 7 game on Monday, January 27. The Wildcats go into the game with a record of 0-13. Wilkinson County lost 76-29 in their recent league game against Bogue Chitto (Bogue Chitto, MS)
