The Byers Lions (Holly Springs, MS) basketball crushed the host Pine Grove Panthers (Ripley, MS), 71-37 in Friday's league bout.

The Lions now possess a 12-11 record. They play next when they travel to Power Center Academy for a non-league bout on Saturday, January 25. Byers will play a Knights team coming off a 76-61 league win over Melrose (Memphis, TN). The Knights record now stands at 9-3.

With the loss, Pine Grove falls to 14-9 on the campaign. The Panthers host Ashland (Ashland, MS) to play the Blue Devils in a 1A Region 2 bout on Monday, January 27. The Blue Devils go into the bout with a record of 9-15. Ashland won 73-47 in their recent league bout against Jumpertown (Booneville, MS)
