In Friday's league contest, the host Essex Trojans basketball team scored a close 63-57 win over the Rappahannock Raiders.
The Trojans (4-3) will now prepare for their contest against Lunenburg Central (Victoria, VA). The Chargers come into the non-league contest with a 5-6 record. In their last contest, Lunenburg Central edged Randolph-Henry (Charlotte Court House, VA), 56-53, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Raiders battle the Mathews Blue Devils (Mathews, VA) in a non-league contest, on Saturday, January 25. Rappahannock will attempt to better on its 1-8 season record. The Blue Devils come into the contest with a 10-4 record after their 82-75 league win over King William (King William, VA).
