In Friday's league contest, the host Bowie Volunteers basketball team scored a good 50-36 triumph over the Sam Houston Texans.

The Volunteers (13-17) will now prepare for their contest against Martin (Arlington, TX). The Warriors go into the 6A Region I District 8 contest with a 12-16 record. In their last contest, Martin topped Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, TX), 59-11, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Texans battle the Arlington Colts (Arlington, TX) in a 6A Region I District 8 contest, on Tuesday, January 28. Sam Houston will attempt to better on its 10-14 season record. The Colts go into the contest with a 14-15 record after their 79-15 league loss to South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, TX).
