In Friday's league contest, the host Cumberland Clippers ice hockey team scored a close 3-0 victory over the Ponaganset Chieftains.

The Clippers (6-5) will now prepare for their contest against Lincoln (Lincoln, RI). The Lions go into the Division 2 contest with a 5-6 record. In their last contest, Lincoln edged Burrillville (Harrisville, RI), 5-1, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Chieftains play the Narragansett Mariners (Narragansett, RI) in a Division 2 contest, on Saturday, February 1. Ponaganset will attempt to better on its 9-4 season record.
