In Friday's league contest, the host Alexander Central Cougars basketball team scored a close 53-47 triumph over the Freedom Patriots.
The Cougars (7-8) will now prepare for their contest against Ashe County (West Jefferson, NC). The Huskies go into the contest with a 0-12 record. In their last contest, Ashe County was tipped by Watauga (Boone, NC), 64-15, in a league contest.
In their next game, the Patriots battle the Hickory Red Tornadoes (Hickory, NC) in a non-league contest, on Thursday, January 30. Freedom will attempt to better on its 12-3 season record.
