The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) and the host Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC), observed Mitchell's basketball team overcome Owen by a margin of 70-53.

The Mountaineers (5-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Draughn (Valdese, NC). The Wildcats come into the non-league challenge with a 0-11 record.

In their next game, the Warhorses battle the Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, January 29. Owen will attempt to better on its 6-5 season record. The Vikings come into the challenge with a 6-5 record after their 42-35 non-league win over Asheville Christian Academy (Swannanoa, NC).
