Glenvar Highlanders (Salem, VA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting James River Knights (Buchanan, VA), 53-48 in a league bout.

With the victory, Glenvar upgrades its record to 11-7 on the campaign. The Highlanders travel to Alleghany (Covington, VA) to play the Mountaineers in a Three Rivers bout on Friday, January 27. The Mountaineers come into the bout with a record of 6-11. Alleghany lost 74-55 in their recent non-league bout against Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA)

Next up, the Knights play the Carroll County Cavaliers (Hillsville, VA) in a Three Rivers bout, on Friday, January 27. James River will attempt to upgrade on its 11-7 season record. The Cavaliers come into the bout with a 13-7 record after their 50-45 league loss to Radford (Radford, VA).
