Chatham Cougars (Chatham, NJ) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Sparta Spartans (Sparta, NJ), 66-55 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Chatham upgrades its record to 7-8 on the season. The Cougars host Morristown-Beard (Morristown, NJ) to play the Crimson in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 27. The Crimson go into the bout with a record of 3-10. Morristown-Beard won 70-61 in their recent league bout against Pequannock (Pompton Plains, NJ)

Next up, the Spartans play the Parsippany Hills Vikings (Parsippany, NJ) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Sparta will attempt to upgrade on its 6-9 season record. The Vikings go into the bout with a 10-7 record after their 63-59 non-league win over Kinnelon (Kinnelon, NJ).
