Mississippi High School Basketball - New Hope thwarts Lafayette

The New Hope Trojans (Columbus, MS) basketball knocked off the visiting Lafayette Commodores (Oxford, MS), 81-61 in Thursday's league test.
The Trojans (19-2) will now prepare for their test against Clarksdale (Clarksdale, MS). The Wildcats go into the 5A Region 1 test with a 7-14 record. In their last test, Clarksdale notched a victory over Corinth (Corinth, MS), 57-36, in a league test.
The Commodores now own a 10-13 record. They play next when they host West Point for a 5A Region 1 test on Friday, January 26. Lafayette will encounter a Green Wave squad coming off a 61-58 league loss to Pontotoc (Pontotoc, MS). The Green Wave record now stands at 11-9.
