Starkville Yellowjackets (Starkville, MS) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Tupelo Golden Wave (Tupelo, MS), 68-52 in a league bout.

With the win, Starkville upgrades its record to 13-9 on the season. The Yellowjackets host Clinton (Clinton, MS) to play the Arrows in a 7A Region 2 bout on Friday, January 26. The Arrows go into the bout with a record of 16-5. Clinton won 69-53 in their recent league bout against Tupelo (Tupelo, MS)

Next up, the Golden Wave play the Murrah Mustangs (Jackson, MS) in a 7A Region 2 bout, on Friday, January 26. Tupelo will attempt to upgrade on its 5-13 season record. The Mustangs go into the bout with a 3-18 record after their 61-54 league loss to Madison Central (Madison, MS).
