Betsy Layne Bobcats (Betsy Layne, KY) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the visiting Phelps Hornets (Phelps, KY), 62-41 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Betsy Layne upgrades its record to 11-6 on the campaign. The Bobcats host Floyd Central (Eastern, KY) to play the Jaguars in a District 58 bout on Saturday, January 27. The Jaguars come into the bout with a record of 6-12. Floyd Central lost 58-44 in their recent non-league bout against Shelby Valley (Pikeville, KY)

Next up, the Hornets play the Prestonsburg Blackcats (Prestonsburg, KY) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 29. Phelps will attempt to upgrade on its 12-7 season record. The Blackcats come into the bout with a 8-8 record after their 59-35 league loss to Lawrence County (Louisa, KY).
