Fans at Thursday's league challenge between the Brunswick Pirates (Brunswick, GA) and the visiting South Effingham Mustangs (Guyton, GA), saw Brunswick's basketball squad hold off South Effingham by a tally of 54-49.

With the victory, Brunswick improves its record to 13-8 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Hilton Head Christian Academy (Hilton Head Island, SC) to confront the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Saturday, January 27. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 10-6. Hilton Head Christian Academy won 69-50 in their recent league challenge against John Paul II (Ridgeland, SC)

Next up, the Mustangs confront the Lakeside Panthers (Evans, GA) in a AAAAAA Region 2 challenge, on Friday, January 26. South Effingham will attempt to improve on its 7-14 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 15-5 record after their 70-42 league win over Effingham County (Springfield, GA).
