Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Coventry Oakers (Coventry, RI), 46-45 in a league bout.

With the victory, Smithfield upgrades its record to 7-6 on the campaign. The Sentinels host West Warwick (West Warwick, RI) to play the Wizards in a Division 2 bout on Wednesday, January 31. The Wizards come into the bout with a record of 11-5.

Next up, the Oakers play the West Warwick Wizards (West Warwick, RI) in a Division 2 bout, on Monday, January 29. Coventry will attempt to upgrade on its 8-8 season record. The Wizards come into the bout with a 11-5 record after their 46-44 league loss to Shea (Pawtucket, RI).
