Winooski Spartans (Winooski, VT) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Danville Bears (Danville, VT), 53-50 in a league bout.

With the victory, Winooski upgrades its record to 3-6 on the campaign. The Spartans host Sharon Academy (Sharon, VT) to play the Phoenix in a non-league bout on Monday, January 29. The Phoenix come into the bout with a record of 1-10. Sharon Academy lost 35-24 in their recent non-league bout against Proctor (Proctor, VT)

Next up, the Bears play the Northfield Marauders (Northfield, VT) in a Mountain bout, on Saturday, January 27. Danville will attempt to upgrade on its 1-9 season record. The Marauders come into the bout with a 1-10 record after their 41-24 non-league loss to Blue Mountain (Wells River, VT).
