Carterville Lions (Carterville, IL) boosters left the game satisfied Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad notch a victory over the host Massac County Patriots (Metropolis, IL), 54-40 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Carterville upgrades its record to 8-15 on the year. The Lions host Harrisburg (Harrisburg, IL) to face the Bulldogs in a Southern Illinois River-to-River - Ohio match on Thursday, January 30. The Bulldogs enter the match with a record of 18-5.

The Patriots now sport a 9-13 record. They put it on the line next when they host Harrisburg for a Southern Illinois River-to-River - Ohio match on Tuesday, January 28. Massac County will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 63-56 non-league loss to Vienna (Vienna, IL). The Bulldogs record now stands at 18-5.
