The Effingham Flaming Hearts (Effingham, IL) basketball nipped the visiting Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL), 50-46 in Thursday's league test.
The Flaming Hearts (17-7) will now prepare for their test against Teutopolis (Teutopolis, IL). The Wooden Shoes go into the non-league test with a 21-3 record. In their last test, Teutopolis got by Civic Memorial (Bethalto, IL), 51-36, in a non-league test.
The Greenwave now own a 11-13 record. They play next when they travel to Taylorville for a Apollo test on Tuesday, January 31. Mattoon will encounter a Tornadoes squad coming off a 45-36 league win over Mt. Zion (Mt. Zion, IL). The Tornadoes record now stands at 20-6.
