Mapletown Maples (Greensboro, PA) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Jefferson-Morgan Rockets (Jefferson, PA), 33-19 in a league bout.

With the victory, Mapletown upgrades its record to 5-10 on the campaign. The Maples host Avella (Avella, PA) to play the Eagles in a WPIAL 1A 2 bout on Monday, January 30. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 8-9. Avella won 64-49 in their recent league bout against West Greene (Waynesburg, PA)

Next up, the Rockets play the Monessen Greyhounds (Monessen, PA) in a WPIAL 1A 2 bout, on Monday, January 30. Jefferson-Morgan will attempt to upgrade on its 0-17 season record. The Greyhounds come into the bout with a 11-4 record after their 57-22 league win over Geibel Catholic (Connellsville, PA).
