Illinois High School Basketball - Mendota tops Newman Central Catholic

January 26, 2023: Mendota, IL 61342

Mendota Trojans (Mendota, IL) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL), 45-34 in a league bout.

With the victory, Mendota upgrades its record to 5-19 on the campaign. The Trojans host Amboy (Amboy, IL) to play the Clippers in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 28. The Clippers come into the bout with a record of 20-3. Amboy lost 40-36 in their recent league bout against Polo (Polo, IL)

Next up, the Comets play the Hall Red Devils (Spring Valley, IL) in a Three Rivers - East bout, on Monday, January 30. Newman Central Catholic will attempt to upgrade on its 6-19 season record. The Red Devils come into the bout with a 14-11 record after their 32-29 non-league win over Marquette (Ottawa, IL).
