Columbia Roughnecks (West Columbia, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Bay City Blackcats (Bay City, TX), 67-61 in a league bout.

With the victory, Columbia upgrades its record to 10-17 on the campaign. The Roughnecks travel to La Marque (La Marque, TX) to play the Cougars in a 4A Region IV District 26 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 14-16. La Marque lost 80-57 in their recent league bout against Iowa Colony (Iowa Colony, TX)

Next up, the Blackcats play the Sweeny Bulldogs (Sweeny, TX) in a 4A Region IV District 26 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Bay City will attempt to upgrade on its 5-16 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 14-14 record after their 70-61 league win over Columbia (West Columbia, TX).
