Malakoff Tigers (Malakoff, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Blooming Grove Lions (Blooming Grove, TX), 34-31 in a league bout.

With the victory, Malakoff upgrades its record to 5-5 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Eustace (Eustace, TX) to play the Bulldogs in a 3A Region III District 18 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 3-26. Eustace lost 46-44 in their recent league bout against Rice (Rice, TX)

Next up, the Lions play the Mildred Eagles (Corsicana, TX) in a 3A Region III District 18 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Blooming Grove will attempt to upgrade on its 8-10 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 17-7 record after their 73-66 league win over Kemp (Kemp, TX).
