Mabank Panthers (Mabank, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Brownsboro Bears (Brownsboro, TX), 52-41 in a league bout.

With the win, Mabank upgrades its record to 14-6 on the season. The Panthers travel to Van (Van, TX) to play the Vandals in a 4A Region II District 16 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Vandals go into the bout with a record of 11-18. Van won 46-35 in their recent league bout against Lindale (Lindale, TX)

Next up, the Bears play the Athens Hornets (Athens, TX) in a 4A Region II District 16 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Brownsboro will attempt to upgrade on its 13-15 season record. The Hornets go into the bout with a 13-14 record after their 72-66 league win over Cumberland Academy (Tyler, TX).
