East Providence Townies (East Providence, RI) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Woonsocket Villa Novans (Woonsocket, RI), 64-48 in a league bout.

With the victory, East Providence upgrades its record to 8-7 on the campaign. The Townies host Classical (Providence, RI) to play the Purples in a Division 1 bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Purples come into the bout with a record of 15-1. Classical won 78-48 in their recent league bout against Narragansett (Narragansett, RI)

Next up, the Villa Novans play the Narragansett Mariners (Narragansett, RI) in a Division 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 30. Woonsocket will attempt to upgrade on its 3-12 season record. The Mariners come into the bout with a 7-9 record after their 78-48 league loss to Classical (Providence, RI).
