Escondido Cougars (Escondido, CA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Mt. Carmel Sundevils (San Diego, CA), 53-51 in a league bout.

With the victory, Escondido upgrades its record to 9-13 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to San Dieguito Academy (Encinitas, CA) to play the Mustangs in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 27. The Mustangs come into the bout with a record of 4-17. San Dieguito Academy lost 80-58 in their recent league bout against El Camino (Oceanside, CA)

Next up, the Sundevils play the Victory Christian Academy Knights (Chula Vista, CA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 27. Mt. Carmel will attempt to upgrade on its 12-10 season record. The Knights come into the bout with a 12-8 record after their 66-63 league win over Olympian (Chula Vista, CA).
