Virginia High School Basketball - Bland County can't hold off Galax

The Galax Maroon Tide basketball team scored 50 points and held the visiting Bland County Bears to 45 in the Maroon Tide league triumph on Friday.

The Maroon Tide now sport a 10-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Fort Chiswell for a Mountain Empire contest on Monday, January 29. Galax will battle a Pioneers team coming off a 69-58 league loss to George Wythe (Wytheville, VA). The Pioneers record now stands at 13-4.

The Bears (7-9) will now prepare for their contest against Auburn (Riner, VA). The Eagles enter the Mountain Empire contest with a 7-8 record. In their last contest, Auburn nudged Grayson County (Independence, VA), 54-36, in a league contest.
