The Gwynedd Mercy Academy Monarchs (Gwynedd Valley, PA) basketball nipped the visiting Villa Maria Academy Hurricanes (Malvern, PA), 38-34 in Friday's league test.

The Monarchs (15-2) will now prepare for their test against Central Bucks East (Doylestown, PA). The Patriots go into the non-league test with a 11-2 record. In their last test, Central Bucks East got by Central Bucks South (Warrington, PA), 53-28, in a league test.

The Hurricanes now own a 11-6 record. They play next when they host Pennridge for a non-league test on Monday, January 29. Villa Maria Academy will encounter a Rams squad coming off a 42-28 league win over Souderton (Souderton, PA). The Rams record now stands at 8-7.
