The Hale Center Owls (Hale Center, TX) basketball knocked off the host Smyer Bobcats (Smyer, TX), 53-41 in Friday's league test.

The Owls (18-12) will now prepare for their test against Sudan (Sudan, TX). The Hornets go into the 2A Region I District 4 test with a 20-7 record. In their last test, Sudan notched a victory over Olton (Olton, TX), 72-42, in a league test.

The Bobcats now own a 12-13 record. They play next when they travel to Floydada for a 2A Region I District 4 test on Tuesday, January 30. Smyer will encounter a Whirlwinds squad coming off a 77-12 league win over Lockney (Lockney, TX). The Whirlwinds record now stands at 22-3.
