The Hertford County Bears (Ahoskie, NC) basketball nipped the visiting Holmes Aces (Edenton, NC), 23-21 in Friday's non-league test.

The Bears (2-1) will now prepare for their test against First Flight (Kill Devil Hills, NC). The Nighthawks go into the non-league test with a 2-1 record. In their last test, First Flight was tipped by Manteo (Manteo, NC), 43-16, in a league test.

The Aces now own a 5-2 record. They play next when they travel to Victory Christian for a non-league test on Monday, January 29. Holmes will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 21-16 non-league win over Non JV Opponent (, ). The Eagles record now stands at 10-1.
