Newark Memorial Cougars (Newark, CA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Irvington Vikings (Fremont, CA), 62-58 in a league bout.

With the victory, Newark Memorial upgrades its record to 10-11 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Kennedy (Fremont, CA) to play the Titans in a bout on Monday, January 29. The Titans come into the bout with a record of 0-6. Kennedy lost 50-41 in their recent league bout against American (Fremont, CA)

Next up, the Vikings play the Moreau Catholic Mariners (Hayward, CA) in a bout, on Wednesday, February 7. Irvington will attempt to upgrade on its 5-5 season record.
