Uwharrie Charter Eagles (Asheboro, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Providence Grove Patriots (Franklinville, NC), 49-47 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Uwharrie Charter upgrades its record to 8-5 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Albemarle (Albemarle, NC) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 27. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a record of 3-9. Albemarle won 48-36 in their recent non-league bout against Queen's Grant (Matthews, NC)

Next up, the Patriots play the Southwestern Randolph Cougars (Asheboro, NC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 31. Providence Grove will attempt to upgrade on its 2-13 season record. The Cougars come into the bout with a 4-11 record after their 60-44 non-league loss to Trinity (Trinity, NC).
