Ohio High School Ice Hockey - Nordonia knocked off by Westlake

In Sunday's league test, the Westlake Demons (Westlake, OH) ice hockey squad bounced the host Nordonia Knights (Macedonia, OH), by a tally of 11-1.
Next, the Demons face the Aurora Greenmen (Aurora, OH) in a test, on Friday, January 31. Westlake will attempt to improve on its 18-2 season record. The Greenmen come into the test with a 4-19 record after their 4-2 non-league loss to Stow-Munroe Falls (Stow, OH).
The Knights (8-9) will now prepare for their test against Mayfield (Mayfield, OH). The Wildcats come into the test with a 12-8 record. In their last test, Mayfield achieved victory over Aurora (Aurora, OH), 4-3, in a league test.
Game Summary
Nordonia and Westlake faced off for the third time this season. Westlake won the last two tightly contested meetings ( a 6-5 shootout win in the Nordonia Thanksgiving Tournament Championship game and an 8-6 regular season Conference game at Westlake.) The scoring opened less then a minute in to the game when a misplayed puck gave Nordonia's Jerrod Okland a 1 on 0 breakaway which he quickly cashed in on. Westlake answered late in the first with a one timer goal by Luke Hyland from Stephen Baker. After a slow start the Demons came out strong scoring 8 goals in the second period including 5 short handed goals (2 Schons, 2 Hyland, 1 Evilsizer). 5 demons ended the night with a goal including hat tricks from Senior Sean Evilsizer and Sophomores Seth Schons and Luke Hyland. The other 2 demon goals coming off the sticks of Freshmen Justin Simon and Anthony Vlach.
