Shallowater Mustangs (Shallowater, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Abernathy Antelopes (Abernathy, TX), 59-55 in a league bout.

With the win, Shallowater upgrades its record to 16-2 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Idalou (Idalou, TX) to play the Wildcats in a 3A Region I District 2 bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 17-11. Idalou won 66-36 in their recent league bout against Roosevelt (Lubbock, TX)

Next up, the Antelopes play the Childress Bobcats (Childress, TX) in a 3A Region I District 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 31. Abernathy will attempt to upgrade on its 15-8 season record. The Bobcats go into the bout with a 17-7 record after their 77-41 league win over Slaton (Slaton, TX).
