Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Avonworth Antelopes (Pittsburgh, PA) and the visiting South Allegheny Gladiators (McKeesport, PA), saw Avonworth's basketball squad hold off South Allegheny by a tally of 63-58.

With the victory, Avonworth improves its record to 7-10 on the campaign. The Antelopes host Quaker Valley (Leetsdale, PA) to play the Quakers in a WPIAL 4A 4 challenge on Friday, February 3. The Quakers come into the challenge with a record of 10-5.

Next up, the Gladiators play the Montour Spartans (McKees Rocks, PA) in a WPIAL 4A 4 challenge, on Tuesday, January 31. South Allegheny will attempt to improve on its 14-2 season record. The Spartans come into the challenge with a 6-12 record after their 50-41 non-league win over Canon-McMillan (Canonsburg, PA).
