Itasca Wampus Cats (Itasca, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Valley Mills Eagles (Valley Mills, TX), 55-44 in a league bout.

With the win, Itasca upgrades its record to 13-12 on the season. The Wampus Cats travel to Frost (Frost, TX) to play the Polar Bears in a 2A Region II District 12 bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Polar Bears go into the bout with a record of 6-21. Frost lost 56-37 in their recent league bout against Hamilton (Hamilton, TX)

Next up, the Eagles play the Rio Vista Eagles (Rio Vista, TX) in a 2A Region II District 12 bout, on Tuesday, January 31. Valley Mills will attempt to upgrade on its 7-14 season record. The Eagles go into the bout with a 10-18 record after their 51-30 league win over Hamilton (Hamilton, TX).
