The Washburn Castle Guards (Washburn, WI) basketball crushed the host Mellen Granite Diggers (Mellen, WI), 79-52 in Friday's league test.

The Castle Guards (10-3) will now prepare for their test against Mercer (Mercer, WI). The Tigers go into the Indianhead test with a 2-13 record. In their last test, Mercer was trounced by South Shore (Port Wing, WI), 77-68, in a league test.

The Granite Diggers now own a 5-10 record. They play next when they travel to Butternut for a Indianhead test on Tuesday, January 31. Mellen will encounter a Midgets squad coming off a 76-42 league loss to Lac Courte Oreilles (Hayward, WI). The Midgets record now stands at 0-13.
