The Thurston Eagles (Redford, MI) basketball nipped the host Melvindale Cardinals (Melvindale, MI), 74-72 in Friday's league test.

The Eagles (7-6) will now prepare for their test against Annapolis (Dearborn Heights, MI). The Cougars go into the Western Wayne test with a 6-5 record. In their last test, Annapolis got by Redford Union (Redford, MI), 44-35, in a league test.

The Cardinals now own a 2-6 record. They play next when they host Crestwood for a Western Wayne test on Tuesday, January 31. Melvindale will encounter a Chargers squad coming off a 53-44 league loss to Robichaud (Dearborn Heights, MI). The Chargers record now stands at 4-10.
