St. Bede Bruins (Peru, IL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Mendota Trojans (Mendota, IL), 57-42 in a league bout.

With the win, St. Bede upgrades its record to 8-16 on the season. The Bruins travel to LaSalle-Peru (LaSalle, IL) to clash with the Cavaliers in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 28. The Cavaliers go into the bout with a record of 14-10. LaSalle-Peru won 61-46 in their recent non-league bout against Streator (Streator, IL)

Next up, the Trojans clash with the Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL) in a Three Rivers - East bout, on Tuesday, January 31. Mendota will attempt to upgrade on its 8-19 season record. The Comets go into the bout with a 20-6 record after their 51-46 non-league loss to Fulton (Fulton, IL).
