Newman Smith Trojans (Carrollton, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting The Colony Cougars (The Colony, TX), 57-49 in a league bout.

With the victory, Newman Smith upgrades its record to 19-5 on the campaign. The Trojans travel to Lone Star (Frisco, TX) to play the Rangers in a 5A Region II District 9 bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Rangers come into the bout with a record of 14-13. Lone Star lost 70-57 in their recent league bout against Reedy (Frisco, TX)

Next up, the Cougars play the Frisco Raccoons (Frisco, TX) in a 5A Region II District 9 bout, on Monday, January 30. The Colony will attempt to upgrade on its 17-11 season record.
