Hammond Skyhawks (Columbia, SC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Cardinal Newman Cardinals (Columbia, SC), 42-14 in a league bout.

With the win, Hammond upgrades its record to 10-5 on the season. The Skyhawks travel to Heathwood Hall Episcopal (Columbia, SC) to play the Highlanders in a SCISA AAAA Region I bout on Friday, February 3. The Highlanders go into the bout with a record of 20-1. Heathwood Hall Episcopal won 77-28 in their recent league bout against Ben Lippen (Columbia, SC)

Next up, the Cardinals play the Wilson Hall Barons (Sumter, SC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, February 1. Cardinal Newman will attempt to upgrade on its 1-14 season record. The Barons go into the bout with a 4-10 record after their 65-24 league loss to Trinity Collegiate (Darlington, SC).
