Whitney Wildcats (Whitney, TX) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Clifton Cubs (Clifton, TX), 44-41 in a league bout.

With the victory, Whitney upgrades its record to 12-15 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Harmony Science Academy (Waco, TX) to play the Tigers in a Freelance bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 0-5. Harmony Science Academy lost 78-10 in their recent league bout against Keene (Keene, TX)

Next up, the Cubs play the West Trojans (West, TX) in a 3A Region III District 17 battle, on Tuesday, January 31. Clifton will attempt to improve on its 11-13 season record. The Trojans come into the battle with a 9-12 record after their 37-14 league win over Whitney (Whitney, TX).
