The Irion County Hornets (Mertzon, TX) basketball knocked off the host Robert Lee Steers (Robert Lee, TX), 25-17 in Friday's league test.

The Hornets (16-4) will now prepare for their test against Garden City (Garden City, TX). The Bearkats go into the 1A Region II District 11 test with a 14-12 record. In their last test, Garden City went down by Veribest (Veribest, TX), 53-33, in a league test.

The Steers now own a 12-10 record. They play next when they travel to Bronte for a 1A Region II District 11 test on Tuesday, January 31. Robert Lee will encounter a Longhorns squad coming off a 41-28 league win over Blackwell (Blackwell, TX). The Longhorns record now stands at 14-12.
