Marengo Panthers (Dixons Mills, AL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Sweet Water Bulldogs (Sweet Water, AL), 44-24 in a league bout.

With the win, Marengo upgrades its record to 12-8 on the season. The Panthers host Choctaw County (Butler, AL) to clash with the Tigers in a 1A Area 4 bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 11-7. Choctaw County won 49-47 in their recent league bout against Southern Choctaw (Gilbertown, AL)

Next up, the Bulldogs clash with the Thomasville Tigers (Thomasville, AL) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 30. Sweet Water will attempt to upgrade on its 0-9 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 18-6 record after their 60-12 league win over Excel (Excel, AL).
