Georgia High School Basketball - Southland Academy nips Tiftarea Academy

Southland Academy Raiders (Americus, GA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Tiftarea Academy Panthers (Chula, GA), 50-45 in a league bout.
With the victory, Southland Academy upgrades its record to 19-2 on the campaign. The Raiders host Terrell Academy (Dawson, GA) to play the Eagles in a GIAA AAAA/AAA District 3 bout on Tuesday, January 31. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 13-9. Terrell Academy lost 61-59 in their recent non-league bout against Citizens Christian Academy (Douglas, GA)
Next up, the Panthers play the Atkinson County Rebels (Pearson, GA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 28. Tiftarea Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 10-3 season record. The Rebels come into the bout with a 4-16 record after their 37-34 league win over Lanier County (Lakeland, GA).
