The Alexander Central Cougars basketball team scored 54 points and held the host Ashe County Huskies to 50 in the Cougars non-league triumph on Friday.

The Cougars now sport a 14-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Watauga for a non-league contest on Tuesday, January 31. Alexander Central will battle a Pioneers team coming off a 63-42 non-league loss to Reagan (Pfafftown, NC). The Pioneers record now stands at 12-6.

The Huskies (6-9) will now prepare for their contest against Hibriten (Lenoir, NC). The Panthers enter the non-league contest with a 8-7 record. In their last contest, Hibriten was nudged by Freedom (Morganton, NC), 51-47, in a non-league match.
